Setting boundaries is essential if we want to be both physically and emotionally healthy. It builds empowerment for individuals to have safe relationships. By recognizing the need to set and enforce limits, you protect your self-esteem, maintain self-respect, and enjoy healthy relationships.

There are many reasons that we don’t uphold boundaries, such as fear of rejection, guilt and ultimately abandonment. We may feel that we’re responsible for others’ happiness and that can weaken our own identity.
